Meta35 works on Windows 7 and up, as well as OSX 10.9 to 10.12 inclusive. Sorry, OS X Kodiak users :(

Is there anything I should know before starting?

If you're using a Nikon N90, N90s or F100, your camera will not record shooting data by default. You must set it to record data in Meta35 using Camera Setup.

Can I re-import a text file of the data I exported from the Meta35 software?

No.
